BARRELS N’ BITES
June 11th 2019 |5:30 PM – 9:30 PM | Midtown Detroit

Enjoy the sights, bites and flavors of Detroit as Detroit Foodie Tours takes you to the city’s most diverse and historic neighborhoods with options of different themes.

The Barrels n’ Bites edition is a walking foodie experience in Midtown’s eclectic and diverse neighborhood with visits to popular and not-so-known restaurants, markets and eateries!

How It Works:
• Check in at one of the designated check-in locations
• Pick-up your lanyard and walking map
• The tour and registration begins at 5:30pm and concludes at 9:30pm offering a leisurely dining experience. Relax and take in all that each participating location has to offer.
• Present your lanyard at any participating location for your small plate sample and enjoy!
• Alcoholic beverages are at your discretion. Samples and mini servings of beer, wine & specialty cocktails available for $1 -$5 at each location so you can indulge at your own pace.

Getting Around
Detroit Foodie tours are walkable and offer you the opportunity to get in some light exercise and burn off some of the delicious food you will be sampling! Most of the neighborhood locations are no more than a few blocks from one another. There will be one shuttle making its rounds for those that may be unable to complete the tour on foot. Note that this will NOT serve as door-to-door service. See your map for stop locations. There are typically plentiful Lyft and Uber drivers in the area that can easily and affordably provide a more customized form of transportation.

Are Samples Limited?
Yes and No… We know that everything will be so delicious you will want more but remember to pace yourself so you leave room to enjoy a sample from every stop. The chefs are preparing food based on one small plate sample per person. DFT politely requests that you limit your samples to one per location to help ensure that all tour participants can sample the featured small plate(s). Since this is an opportunity to give a good number of locations a try, we encourage you to visit the locations again in the near future!

Participating Restaurants

The Traffic Jam & Snug
Serving: House made cheese with traditional accompaniments

The Traffic Jam and Snug, established 1965, is truly one of Detroit’s hidden treasures. Known throughout Midtown for their in-house bakery, microbrewery, and dairy, their curiously intimate multi-level dining rooms, and an eclectic menu of made-from-scratch dishes, there is simply nothing quite like The Traffic Jam. On December 18, 1992, after a decade-long legal battle, the Traffic Jam became the first brew-pub in the state of Michigan. Since then, they have been brewing an uncommon, ever-changing selection of hand-crafted beers. Take, for example, the Grand Theft Pilsner, or the Java Porter. Available in 14 or 22 oz. pours, or try them all with our 8 oz. sampler glasses.
